DIPARTIMENTO DI SCIENZE VETERINARIE E POLO DIDATTICO DI PISA
School Architecture
(750 students) – Pisa, 2020 – In Progress

The project area covers a total surface of approximately 50,000 sqm, located to the south of the existing building housing the veterinary hospital, the operating theatres, laboratories and professors’ offices.
The project envisages the construction of three main buildings: the Department, which will house research activities (laboratories, service areas, offices for teachers, technical staff and PhD students, meeting rooms and a relaxation room); the Polo Didattico, which will house communal and social spaces (classrooms, library, study room and canteen), and the Caseificio (Dairy farm), which will feature teaching spaces.
The structure features the characteristics of a university campus that provides students with all the services they need to carry out their academic activities. At the same time, it guarantees great contact with the outside world through spaces accessible to the community such as the large park, the library, the dairy farm and the restaurant.

The built space dialogues with the outdoor space through paved surfaces made of permeable materials, grassy terraces and green areas which mainly preserve the presence of spontaneous greenery.
