P.O. SPEDALI CIVILI DI BRESCIA
NEW HEALTH CENTRE AND RENOVATION OF PAVILION B
Healthcare Architecture
(Bed capacity: 146) – Brescia, 2021

The renovation project concerns three different areas: the construction of a new health centre building, the renovation of the inpatient, outpatient and staff areas in Pavilion B, and the upgrading of the Centro Alte Energie.
The main intervention is the construction of the new building that will house the surgeries, characterised by an exedra layout, whose entrance space is defined by a system of vertical brick half-pilasters, which reproduce a “giant order”, in analogy with the historical buildings. The building houses 150 surgeries, a 300-seat auditorium and the necessary services for patients and staff.
The project also aimed at enhancing the delicate green system, guaranteeing the protected use of open spaces.

Particular attention has been paid to limiting energy consumption, favouring high-performance insulation and system solutions.
