Diagnostic and therapeutic paths are increasingly evolving towards forms of de-hospitalisation, outpatient surgery and complex outpatient treatment.
PRESIDIO OSPEDALIERO MACCHI
NEW DAY CENTER 2
Healthcare Architecture
Varese, 2018

On this basis, the “day” services at the Ospedale di Circolo in Varese have been strengthened through the construction of a new dedicated building, consisting of four levels coplanar to the existing Day Center and connected to it by walkways.
The entrance to the reception areas takes the form of a tapering glazed body, whose transparency makes the presence of the large atrium visible from the outside, underneath the lath texture. A sort of “magic lantern” designed to make the building visually permeable.

The new addition was designed to generate a low environmental impact and to integrate, from a compositional point of view, with the natural and functional context of the hospital.
