Being inspired by the children’s genuine wishes was the inspiration for the design of the Via Viscontini School in Milan.
A new primary school built entirely with a wooden load-bearing structure in which careful, conscious use of materials and forms has served to generate the overall language of the work.
A covered square, in a barycentric position, distributes the service area where the spaces open to citizens are located (an auditorium with 200 seats, a gym for up to 450 people, a library). The latter face the neighbourhood and have their own dedicated entrance and parking area.
A sharing experience has been developed through a participatory design process involving adults (teachers, school staff, parents, associations) and children, so that their needs and proposals can be heard.
