(2,250 students) – Pisa, 2020 – In Progress

The project involves the construction of a new Polo didattico (teaching hub) with more than 2,255 classroom seats plus teaching laboratories, allowing the biological-chemical disciplines to be concentrated in a single area.
The new building is a single four-storey building above ground, consisting of three interconnected buildings. The functions have been grouped together by identifying clusters made up of homogeneous activities and placed on different levels of the building in relation to accesses, orientation, quality and specific characteristics of the spaces.
The theme of environmental sustainability is dealt with through the design of intelligent passive solutions to embody an ideal of quality and architectural ethics.

The design followed the reference environmental sustainability protocols (LEED and ITACA) for the construction of a zero energy building (Nzeb).
