NUOVA SCUOLA PRIMARIA - SPINO D'ADDA
School Architecture
(350 students) – Spino d’Adda (Cremona), 2020

The project took into account the ministerial guidelines with specific reference to the theme of new teaching methods, energy saving, safety of places and people, contributing to the quality of the surrounding urban fabric by shaping the school as a “Civic Center”.
The new school, characterised by flexible spaces whose community vocation is underlined by easy accessibility, will be an exchange and meeting point for all citizens. Simple forms and compositional clarity link together the educational and multifunctional areas open to the public, allowing adults and children to move easily in these spaces of daily life. The careful and conscious use of materials and forms generated the overall language of the work.
The building has a mixed timber and concrete load-bearing structure; the continuous pitched roofs create an evocative image of the new child-friendly architecture inspired by the iconic image of a roof with the classic two pitches. The outdoor areas, characterised by different thematic zones, encourage direct contact between children and nature, promoting educational activities in science and botany.

A sharing experience was developed through a participatory design process involving adults and children to create a school tailored to the real needs of its users!
