The project involves a radical transformation of the San Paolo Hospital Complex in Milan, with a new organization of internal spaces: outpatient clinics and Day Hospital services will be located on the lower floors, while inpatient wards, with 470 beds, convertible single rooms, and private bathrooms, will be situated on the upper floors.
The project has been developed ensuring operational continuity, maintaining hospital activities throughout all phases of the intervention. The environments will offer hospitality-level standards and a high level of thermal and acoustic comfort, thanks to radiant ceiling systems and dynamic lighting.
Architectural beauty will be an integral part of care: the project adopts principles of neuroaesthetics, incorporating relaxing sounds and scents, natural vegetation, and soundproofing systems to promote a serene and therapeutic environment. Interactive spaces, sensory games, and musical instruments will contribute to cognitive and motor stimulation, particularly for patients with neurological disorders.
The new complex will be highly digitalized, featuring real-time monitoring systems, wearable devices, and infrastructure ready for the integration of artificial intelligence. The intervention employs eco-compatible materials, low-impact construction techniques, and energy-efficiency solutions, making San Paolo a model of a green hospital.
