The complex of interventions aims to “address the emergency situation resulting from the excessive overcrowding of Penitentiary Institutes throughout the national territory.” Wings II and IV, subject to building renovation and seismic upgrading, are currently uninhabitable.
Both wings consist of a basement, a raised ground floor, and 3 above-ground floors. In particular, Wing II underwent a structural consolidation intervention through injection, in the foundation floor, of expanding resins and through external shoring works.
The proposed solution includes the provision of one toilet facility for every two cells (each cell intended to accommodate 2 inmates) on the inner side towards the corridor and a common area designated for circulation/living space towards the exterior.
